What room assignment means in practice
The room assignment is what connects a person to their rent, their door code, their deposit, their inspection record, and that room’s next availability date. When it lives only in a spreadsheet or somebody’s memory, a room gets double-booked, a code opens the wrong door, or a cleaning is scheduled for a bedroom that is still occupied. Moving a resident between bedrooms mid-lease is a change to a signed agreement, not a note.
A resident moves from Bedroom 4 to Bedroom 1 on the 1st; the signed change updates the rent, the door code, the availability of both rooms, and the ledger.
