Innago exports as CSV from three screens: Income for your invoices, Reports then Transactions for every payment received, and the Expenses screen. The Rent Roll and Deposits Held reports have no documented export, and signed leases come out one PDF at a time, so the leases are usually the longest job in the move.
Key takeaways
- Income, then Export, gives you your invoices as a CSV file.
- Reports, then Transactions, then Export gives you every online and offline payment.
- Expenses can be saved as a CSV file or a PDF. Take the CSV.
- The Rent Roll and Deposits Held reports are documented for viewing only, with no export described.
- Every export contains whatever you have currently filtered, so clear your filters first.
- Leases download one at a time, five clicks each. Start that before you need to.
Why landlords leave, and the one asymmetry to know
Innago's appeal is that it costs the landlord nothing up front, so people usually leave for reasons other than price. Common ones are wanting real accounting rather than a cash view, wanting the maintenance, inspection, and turnover side handled properly, or growing to the point where fee structure and reporting depth start to matter more than the monthly bill.
There is one thing worth knowing before you start. Innago makes getting in very easy, including an onboarding tool that reads a rent roll spreadsheet and pulls out properties, units, leases, and tenants. Getting out is more manual than getting in. The money exports are straightforward, but the rent roll, the deposits report, and the lease documents are all more work than you would expect. Start early rather than the week you plan to cancel.
1. Clear your filters, then export your invoices
Do the filters first, because Innago exports what is on screen. Its own guide says plainly that the file will contain whatever data you currently have filtered, which is how people end up with a three-month export they believe is a full history.
Then click Income on the left menu and click Export in the top right corner. A CSV file downloads. Innago describes it as a spreadsheet of your invoices with all your rental and other income, including separate columns for line items such as late fees and other charges, which means you get the detail behind each bill rather than a single lump.
- Clear or widen every filter first
- Income
- Export
- Open the file and check the earliest date
2. Export the transaction report
Click the paper icon at the bottom left of the menu to reach Reports, then click the Transactions tab. This shows every online payment received through Innago and every offline payment you recorded, which matters because cash, checks, and transfers you logged yourself are part of your history too.
If you want to narrow it, use the Filters button near the top left, then click Export towards the top right. The file comes out as a CSV. For a migration you generally want it unfiltered, so resist narrowing it to one resident unless you are chasing a specific question.
- Reports, the paper icon at the bottom left
- Transactions
- Filters if you need them
- Export
- Check the file covers every year you need
3. Export your expenses
Open the Expenses screen. In the top right you have two choices: Download PDF, or Export for a CSV file. Take the CSV. A PDF is fine as a record but no software can read it back into rows, and re-typing a year of expenses is exactly the kind of job that quietly kills a migration.
While you are in the money screens, one thing to keep in mind for later. Innago's profit and loss report is cash-based, meaning it shows money when it was paid rather than when it was due, and unpaid invoices do not appear until they are paid. If your new system shows what is owed as well as what was received, the two reports will not match, and that difference is not a mistake in either one.
4. The rent roll, the deposits, and the tenant list
Innago has a Rent Roll under Reports and a Deposit Held report beside it, and both are documented for viewing rather than exporting. There is also no documented export of a tenant contact list with names, emails, and phone numbers. That combination is the real gap in leaving Innago, and no amount of clicking around changes it.
The practical answer is to build that spreadsheet yourself while you still have access. Open the Rent Roll, widen the filters, and copy across the property, unit, resident, lease dates, and rent. Then open Deposit Held and add what you are holding for each person. Then gather email addresses and phone numbers from the resident records. It is dull, but for a normal portfolio it is one sitting, and it is the single file your next system needs most.
- Reports
- Rent Roll
- Widen the filters
- Copy property, unit, resident, dates, and rent
- Deposit Held for deposits
- Collect emails and phone numbers
5. Download every signed lease
Innago says your data belongs to you and recommends downloading lease agreements, payment histories, and financial reports before you close your account. The lease part is the one to start early, because the documented route is one lease at a time: click Leases and Files, filter to the unit, click Completed Documents, click Signed Online, click the three dots beside the document, press Download, and save it from the tab that opens.
That is five clicks per lease, per unit, with no bulk download and no zip file. Twelve leases is a coffee break. Sixty is an afternoon. Do current residents first, then anyone who moved out recently enough that a deposit or a dispute could still come back.
Check this before you close the account
One quirk is worth knowing. Innago says that if your account contains electronic transactions, meaning eCheck or credit card payments, it cannot permanently delete the account, because of the rules around electronic payment processing and record retention. Accounts without any electronic payments can be closed by emailing support or by using Delete Account in the mobile app settings. Either way, nothing in its help center describes how much access you keep after you stop using it, so do not gamble on being able to come back.
Work through the list below before you stop paying attention to the account, not after.
- Filters cleared before every export
- Invoices CSV opened and checked
- Transactions CSV covers every year
- Expenses taken as CSV, not PDF
- Rent roll and deposits typed up
- Every current lease downloaded
Bringing the files into RentCaddie
RentCaddie does not have an Innago button, and pretending it does would not help you. You use the Not listed path, which is the universal importer. Drop in the invoice file, the transaction file, the expense file, and the rent roll spreadsheet you built, and it works out which is which, reads the headings, and proposes a match for every column. You confirm or correct those matches on a review screen, and nothing saves until you approve it.
The hand-built rent roll is the file to get right, because it carries the people, the rooms, the lease dates, and the rent. RentCaddie publishes a blank starter workbook with the exact columns it expects, and typing your rent roll straight into that removes the guessing entirely. If an import lands wrong, the whole batch can be undone, and the undo keeps anything you have since edited by hand.
Two limits to plan around. RentCaddie reads CSV and Excel files only and will not read the PDF version of your expenses, and each file is capped at 10 MB and 5,000 rows because it is read in your browser. A long transaction history should be exported a year at a time and dropped in as several files.
Common questions
How do I export data from Innago?
There are three Export buttons in three places: Income for invoices, Reports then Transactions for payments, and the Expenses screen for spending. All three produce CSV files, and each one exports whatever you currently have filtered.
Can I export the Innago rent roll?
Innago's help center documents how to view the Rent Roll under Reports but describes no export button or file format for it. The reliable approach is to open it, widen the filters, and copy the details into a spreadsheet yourself before you leave.
How do I download all my leases from Innago?
One at a time. The documented route is Leases and Files, filter to the unit, Completed Documents, Signed Online, the three dots, then Download. There is no bulk download, so start this early if you have more than a handful.
Why does my Innago export only show part of my history?
Because an Innago export contains whatever you currently have filtered. Clear or widen every filter, including the date range, before clicking Export, then open the file and check the earliest row against what you expected.
Can I delete my Innago account?
Only if it never held electronic payments. Innago says an account containing eCheck or credit card transactions cannot be permanently deleted because of electronic payment processing and record retention rules. Accounts without them can be closed by emailing support or through Delete Account in the mobile app settings.
