01 The rule
- We show the reviews residents send us, high and low.
- We never hide a review because of its stars or what it says about us.
- Reviews are shown newest first. We do not sort them by stars.
- The review screen tells residents, before they send, that a review they send may be shown. It shows their first name, the first letter of their last name and their city. Never their full name, their address or their room. Reviews sent before 10/15/2026 appear only if the resident ticked the box that allowed it.
- We leave off reviews from residents whose landlord is owned by RentCaddie's own people.
02 The rent credit
Residents get a rent credit from their landlord for finishing the review, whatever they rate. A one-star review gets exactly the same credit as a five-star review. Each review on our site says how much that resident received.
03 When a review is held
A new review is read by a person at RentCaddie before it appears. We hold a review back only for one of these reasons, and the same rule applies to a five-star review and a one-star review:
- It has swearing.
- It has someone's private information, such as a phone number or an address.
- It has a threat or harassment.
- It is not about RentCaddie at all.
- We have been advised by a lawyer to hold it.
That list is the whole list. A low rating, a complaint or criticism of RentCaddie is never a reason to hold a review.
04 Reviews of a landlord
Residents review two things separately: their landlord, and the RentCaddie app. A review of a landlord goes to that landlord and is never shown on rentcaddie.com. A landlord may show the reviews of them on their own listings page; if they do, every review whose resident allowed it and that passes the check above is shown, not ones they pick.
05 Taking a review down
A resident can take their review off our site at any time, from the link in their review email or from their resident page. It comes off within a few minutes.
